The English Symphony Orchestra Chamber Players will be performing arguably the finest septet ever written – Beethoven’s Septet in E-flat. Full of youthful charm and immediate appeal, the septet is one of Beethoven’s most celebrated works.
This masterpiece, with its mixture of grandeur, intimacy, virtuosity and informality, will be performed alongside Octet
by Philip Sawyers who was appointed the orchestra’s Composer-in-Association in 2015. The ensemble had the pleasure of recording this work back in April for a future ESO Digital
broadcast and are delighted to be sharing this very welcome addition to the repertoire with you.
