FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
9 March 2023
Firmly established as ‘The International Orchestra of Elgar country’, the English Symphony Orchestra, under their Artistic Director and Principal Conductor, Kenneth Woods, has become synonymous with artistic excellence, innovative and visionary programming, distinctive commissioning, ground-breaking recording, a welcoming and immersive concert experience, transformative youth programmes and service to the community.
Virtuoso violinist & social media sensation, Esther Abrami, is one of the most exciting rising stars in classical music. With millions of streams on her releases on Sony Classical, and listed by Julian Lloyd Webber as one of the ‘30 under 30 classical artists to watch’ on Classic FM and a ‘Rising Star’ by BBC Music Magazine, Esther has fast become a new artist to watch beyond the classical genre.
Esther Abrami was the first classical musician ever nominated in the Social Media Superstar category at the Global Awards, and through her engaging and warm presence on social media, she has welcomed a whole new audience into the world of classical music. With Esther’s passion for classical music, music education, and in supporting fellow women in music, she has united over 1 million followers across her channels.
In her new role as Creative Partner and Artist in Residence, Esther will feature as a soloist across ESO’s 2023-24 concert season and will join forces with the ESO Youth Programme to work with musicians aged 5+ inspiring the next generation of musical talent.
“I am delighted to embark on this new relationship with the English Symphony Orchestra, both on the concert platform and through ESO’s Youth programme – as an artist, I am committed to bringing music to the widest possible audience” – Esther Abrami
“Esther Abrami has been making waves with her ability to inspire and engage a new following in classical music, something that is at the heart of the English Symphony Orchestra’s work on the concert platform, in the recording studio and through our work with hundreds of young people in our ESO Youth programme. We are excited to work with her in this new role of Creative Partner and Artist in Residence” Kenneth Woods, ESO Artistic Director and Principal Conductor
Each year, the ESO headlines an ambitious series of concerts across the Midlands’ region and beyond. Full details of the orchestra’s current schedule can be found at www.eso.co.uk
