Opportunity to perform at Elgar Festival 2025

ESO Youth musicians will be performing on Wednesday 28th May at Worcester Cathedral as part of Elgar Festival 2025 – with special guest, Zeb Soanes (Classic FM) hosting the concert!

Children must be able to attend the course to perform in the concert.

We commence the course with a warm-up session to “break the ice” and to encourage good posture, breathing, listening and communication. We move on to full and sectional orchestral rehearsals as well as varied complementary activities including singing, and group improvisation/composition. The course ends with a short informal concert giving a flavour of the things we have worked on.

“If you need a place to express your music feelings, ESO Youth is that place.” – Eddie (violin)

We try to choose music to suit the unique make-up of the orchestra on each workshop. We aim to provide a variety of musical genres from the Baroque through to jazz and film music, and have been fortunate enough in the past to have had pieces written specially for us.

“The ESO Team has supported my daughter through her journey from Beginners to Intermediate Orchestra with enthusiasm and motivation at every turn.” – Jo, ESO Youth Parent

There are 8-12 tutors/pastoral staff on each course. The tutors are all core members of the ESO (Enhanced DBS checked) and bring their own ideas on how to inspire the children who attend.

COVID protocols – regular hand washing and use of hand sanitiser will be encouraged.
