December 17 2014

BigGive

Dear Friends and Supporters

English Symphony Orchestra: Concerts in Care Homes Appeal: Big Give Christmas Challenge 2014

This is to let you know that to date we have so far raised £9078, which only leaves £2922 to go if we are to achieve our ambitious target of £12,000!   With your help and support, however, I am confident that we can reach this target as our deadline extends beyond that of The Big Give Christmas Challenge.

If you would like to make a donation to our Concerts in Care Homes Appeal through The Big Give, you can still do so online although your donation will no longer be doubled and a 4% fee will be levied.  The following credit or debit cards are accepted: Mastercard / Visa / Maestro / Switch / Solo / Delta / American Express.  Please note that after submitting your card details you may be required to complete a verification process called 3D Secure.  Donations may be from as little as £5 to as much as £5,000 but, as they say in Tescos, ‘every little helps’!!  In order to make a donation please click here, then click on the orange Donate Online button and follow the simple instructions.  Otherwise, you can copy this link to your browser https://secure.thebiggive.org.uk/project/htt

If you have any queries or need any help while making your donation, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me.  I can be reached by email or reassuring telephone advice on 01886 821856 and will be happy to guide you through the process.

Finally, if you would like to support our cause, but would prefer to make a donation directly to us, cheques made payable to ‘ESO (2006) Ltd’ are always welcome and can be sent to:-

Meanwhile, thank you, as ever, for your support.

This autumn we are delighted to announce that the English Symphony Orchestra has been selected to participate in the 2014 Big Give Christmas Challenge and we will be aiming to raise £12,000 to support our programme of Concerts in Care Homes.

Meanwhile, I am very happy to report that the DVD has been a huge success and I thought you might be interested to read some of the feedback which we have received after our concerts:

“We were impressed with the inspiring way the musicians interacted with the audience.”  (Stanfield Nursing Home, Worcester)

“We had some residents attend who do not normally attend anything.  We noticed a significant change in their behaviour, their ‘whole being’ brightened during the music. Their expressions were full of life with sparkling eyes.”  (Perrins House, Malvern)

“Residents showed a remarkable increase in wellbeing and better communication.  Re DVD: It’s a lovely way to spend the afternoon or morning as an alternative to the more ‘conventional’ activities.  Residents feel more at peace after watching/listening.” (Beechwood Care Home, Upton-upon-Severn )

“‘I don’t suppose you do funerals?’ ‘Well I suppose we could!’ ‘The trouble is I don’t know the date yet’.”  (resident, Perrins House, Malvern)

re DVD: “Thank you for a lovely concert.  How much do I owe you?” (resident, The Lawns Nursing Home, Worcester)

“We look forward to a return visit from members of the ESO in the near future, which we believe will be of enormous benefit and inspiration to our residents.”  (Stanfield Nursing Home, Worcester)

With very best wishes,

Mary
